TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT is a surgical procedure recommended for patients who have advanced osteoarthritis of the knee and all the compartments are damaged. Dr. Buechel is the co-inventor and designer of the New Jersey LCS™ total knee replacement, which is widely-used worldwide. The LCS® COMPLETE Knee System, which is distributed by DePuy Synthes is based upon the original LCS® Mobile-Bearing Knee System, featuring the same low contact stress articular geometry. This rotating platform system offers surgeons cruciate sacrificing and posterior stabilized femoral and tibial insert components and fixed all-poly and mobile bearing metal-backed patella components.
PARTIAL KNEE REPLACEMENT also referred to as the Uni-Knee Replacement or Uni-Compartmental Knee replacement is a surgical procedure where one compartment of the knee joint is affected with arthritis (instead of three compartments). The procedure can relieve pain and restore mobility of the knee joint. This replacement restores 1/3 of the joint surface and incorporates many of the advantages of a total knee replacement with less surgical dissection, minimal bone removal and minimal blood loss.
ROBOTIC KNEE REPLACEMENT This surgical procedure is done at St. Banabas Medical Center in New Jersey and in New York by Dr. Buechel Jr., M.D. Partial Knee replacements can be done to replace the damaged compartment of the knee leaving the healthy compartments alone, thus, maintaining all the ligaments of the knee joint.
